That is definitely about Gary Metcalfe book. I can say that his book is book of pragmatic person. Instead of explaining how to fight with windmills John explains how to grind on them grain in order to get flour. Instead of speaking about injustices and moralizing on subject how bad they are he shows how to deal with injustices and actually how to use them for your benefit. Also he shows quite good about topics that every developer should be able to explain easily.

This is a very inspiring book written in a no-nonsense, non-PC writing style.The information provided on these pages, as well as the suggestion it gathered, are worth far more than five stars and I would consider this book to be a great bargain at twice the price. Keep up the excellent work.Highly recommended. If you are and very experienced developer then this stuff is already known to you and do not need this book.

Originell aufgemachter Überblick über das Werk von B.I.G. Wahnsinnig inspirierend und motivierend eigene Wege zu gehen. Nur einen "richtigen" Comic darf man ich vom Buch nicht erwarten.

Die Projekte und Entwürfe der Bjarke Ingels Group erscheinen auf den ersten Blick provokant, viel zu plastisch und vor allem nicht realisierbar zu sein.Der Archicomic "Yes is more" räumt mit jugendlichem Charme auf mit diesen Vorurteilen.Es werden 35 eigene Hoch- und Städtebauprojekte mit vielen Renderings, Piktogrammen, Modellfotos und Sprechblasen von der Ausgangslage über Idee (und Sackgassen) bis zum fertigen Konzept vorgestellt.Was mir sehr gut gefallen hat, waren die Hinweise, warum ein Projekte einen Wettbewerb gewonnen oder verloren hat und in welchem Kontext eine Idee anwendbar oder zum scheitern verurteilt ist.Mit Eigenhumor, Reflexion und mutigen Designideen wird das Ziel präsentiert, eine Welt zu schaffen, die sowohl ästhetisch als auch (soziologisch, ökonomisch und ökologisch) nachhaltig ist.B.I.G. will nicht in erster Linie gegen einen vorherrschenden architektonischen Standpunkt rebellieren.Der Fokus liegt eher darin, Gebäude zu bauen, die "ja" sagen zur Nachhaltigkeit, der Freiheit und der Eitelkeit des Nutzers/Bauherrn.Mit dieser Einstellung verzeichnen B.I.G. seit Ihres Bestehens 2001 internationale Erfolge mit mittlerweile mehr als 100 Mitarbeitern in Kopenhagen und Manhattan/New York City.Leider werden in diesem Buch keine Grundrisse, Schnitte, technische Zeichnungen etc. gezeigt.Yes is more ist jedem ans Herz zu legen, der gestalterisch nicht bei Le Corbusier und Mies van der Rohe stehengeblieben ist, sondern neugierig ist auf das, was noch kommen mag.

Das Buch ist sehr schick aufbereitet und toll designed. Die Ideen sind interessant und gut dargestellt. (Ich bin kein Architekt. Also nur soweit man das als Laie beurteilen kann.)Es wird zwar nicht immer ganz klar, warum viele Projekte bisher nichts geworden sind, aber WENN, dann ist es sehr interessant zu lesen was hinter den Kulissen der Projektumsetzung aus Sicht der Architekten so läuft.Insgesamt erfüllt das Buch meine Erwartungen und macht sehr viel Spaß zu lesen.

Ok. I wanted this Book. So i got it as a gift and soon realized that there was more hype around it than i thought. Sure BIG is hyped at the moment and sure BIG's projects are interesting and nice to look at. Their presentations are superb and state of the art, but the book (to me) appeals more the comic fan than any architecture or planning student or professional. That said. I do think the book is worth "reading" it. But i would not buy it for that.

Fern von trockener Theorie und mit hohem Unterhaltungswert stellen BIG hier einige ihrer Projekte vor.Das Lesen macht einfach nur Spaß und inspiriert unglaublich zu eigenen Ideen und Entwürfen.Vor allem für angehende oder neue Architekturstudenten sehr empfehlenswert, auch mal für zwischendurch.Ein gutes Beispiel dafür, wie Architektur funktioniert!
